Elliotts were established in 1842 at Millbank Wharf in Northam, Southampton. The site is still the company head office today with an additional 12 branches across Hampshire and Dorset. In addition, we have two specialist tool centres open to the trade and public in Portsmouth and Winchester, our own roofing company, Elliotts Premier Roofing, and four kitchen & bathroom showrooms, Elliotts Living Spaces. Over the last 176 years, the business has supplied materials to some of Hampshire’s most important developments and infrastructure projects.

Elliotts is one of the oldest family businesses in the South and today it is run by Tom Elliott, the sixth generation of Elliotts to take the helm of the business.

Our “Sales Hub” branch is responsible for the companies direct to sire deliveries, specialist products, large contracts, and accounts for 20% of the company’s sales.

We are looking for a dynamic and driven Product Specialist to join the team in Elliotts Sales Hub. The Sales Hub is where our product categories are managed and developed. You will be dealing with enquiries and orders for Civils & Drainage Products.

Location:                                      Head Office, Southampton

Reporting to:                                      Product Manager

Hours:                                           40 hours, 8am-5pm Monday to Friday

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Sales Process from start to finish adhering to the Elliotts Customer Journey Map
  • Answer incoming phone calls & receive incoming email enquiries
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain best possible price & margin for Elliotts
  • Produce quotations for customers logging them via our Sales system
  • Utilise our Quotations & Project Log with a view to providing the best service
  • Placing & Invoicing of Purchase Orders within the required deadlines
  • Support our external sales team with their customers and where necessary taking on the role of their internal contact
  • Taking ownership of invoicing and administrative tasks



  • Sales experience is essential, preferably with a strong customer focus
  • Our customers are the most important part of our business, a candidate with experience in Customer Services will be advantageous
  • Industry knowledge is preferable but not essential, the right attitude and a willingness to learn will be expected of any candidate
  • Our suppliers are extremely important to our business and we work closely with them. If successful there will be an extensive range of product training available
  • Good product knowledge regarding Civils and Drainage products is preferable however training will be provided for a suitable candidate with a willingness to learn
  • Proactive attitude towards sales link selling is a key skill, including the ability to recognise an opportunity to up sell and supply more than the initial enquiry required
  • Computer skills are required. Competency using Microsoft Office & Excel would be beneficial Effective communication skills face to face and over the telephone, good organisational skills and an ability to understand profits and margins
