Digital Merchandiser

​Our newly created Digital Team are recruiting a Digital Merchandiser. We’ve been hugely successful selling building materials out of our branches for 178 years and we’re now going online too!

We might be 178 years old but our new e-commerce website will be state of the art!

The website is going live this year, so now is a fantastic time to join this expanding Digital Team at the development stage of this project.

You’ll have some real responsibility here; overseeing our online product range and leveraging it to improve commercial performance. You’ll also be the company’s primary Digital business partner so building strong working relationships with our network of branches, product managers and senior management will be critical.

This is how you’ll be spending your time…

  1. Developing a strategy that delivers continuous improvements to our new digital sales channel 
  2. Analyse web performance and using this information to target areas for improvement
  3. Ownership of our PIM system, online product data, taxonomy and “digital shelf” 
  4. Develop a strong understanding of our products, key attributes and online search behaviours of customers, harnessing analytics to make recommendations to improve performance
  5. Support the execution of trading and promotional activity
  6. Monitor the competition for trends, gaps and opportunities in order to optimise listings, increase traffic and improve conversion
  7. Work alongside the marketing, analytical and technical roles within the Digital team to develop a best in class online customer experience

This is what you’ll need to be successful…

  1. Bring your skill and experience in online merchandising, product management and/or online trading to the table, complementing the teams other capabilities
  2. Strategic thinking, an appreciation for the bigger picture and how online fits in a larger business context
  3. Experience in driving continual improvement and effecting business change
  4. Comfortable working with data and analytical tools (e.g. Excel, PIM systems, reporting tools)
  5. Exceptional organisational and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise workload and achieve deadlines
  6. Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate at all levels 
  7. Highly analytical, numerate, commercially astute with meticulous attention to detail
  8. A team player with a customer first mentality
